What is a Work Hazard?
A work hazard is any condition, practice, or behaviour that could cause injury or illness to a person, or damage to property.
Employed individuals across Canada face several work hazards throughout the day which have the potential to cause harm or adverse effects in the workplace and to individual health. Health and safety hazards are prevalent in every workplace although they may not be noticeable. Some work hazards can be easily identified and avoided, but there are also hazards that have the potential to create very dangerous conditions that can threaten your life and health short/long term.
Despite these work hazards that can cause serious injury and illness, many people are unaware of the potential dangers in the workplace. By having an understanding about the workplace and the accompanied hazards, you will be able to recognize and avoid hazards in the workplace, improving your overall awareness of the importance of being safe at work.
